SUMMARY:Nye Banfield
DESCRIPTION:Nye Banfield is an ambitious jazz saxophonist\, composer and bandleader based in South East London and recently graduated from Trinity Laban. His biggest influences are Wayne Shorter\, Miles Davis\, Kendrick Lamar and Ambrose Akinmusire and he combines aspects of each of their music in his own writing and improvising to create a distinctive and contemporary sound.\nNye recorded\, produced\, mixed and self released his debut EP ‘All Change’ in October 2018. It combines traditional jazz teachings with more current grooves and harmonies to create an exciting sound which is “gripping and intense”. The record consists of 5 of Nye's original compositions featuring Dylan Jones of Ezra Collective on trumpet\, Ewan Moore on drums\, Michael Shrimpling on double bass and Tom Morley on piano.\nAs well as releasing music under his own name\, Nye has also recorded with up and coming singer Tara Lily\, featuring on a song alongside trumpeter Dylan Jones\, drummer Femi Koleoso and produced by Jammer of BBK.
