SUMMARY:Garcia-Coombs Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Having met through Tomorrow's Warriors (an artist development programme for young jazz musicians)\, and studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama together under the mentorship of Binker Golding\, Gary Crosby and Alex Davis\, Francisco and Maddy have years of experience playing together. Their quartet features Harry Ling on drums and Harry Pearce on bass who are both also studying at the Guildhall. They will be playing a mixture of original compositions and standards.\n\nFrancisco Garcia de Paredes is a young jazz guitarist from London currently studying at the Guildhall. Francisco draws influence from musicians like Jimmy Raney and Hank Mobley as well as more contemporary musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel and Mark Turner. His dedication to the tradition of jazz as well the more contemporary side of jazz has allowed Francisco to develop his own sound and blend hard bop lines with contemporary vocabulary\, voicings and harmony.\n\nOriginally from Northampton\, Maddy Coombs is a young tenor saxophonist and composer currently in her first year studying Jazz at Guildhall. She has played with Tomorrow's Warriors at venues such as Pizza Express Soho\, Ronnie Scott's and Dizzy’s Jazz Club\, as well as Montclair Jazz Festival and Love Supreme Jazz Festival.\n\nFrancisco Garcia de Paredes - Guitar\nMaddy Coombs - Tenor Saxophone\nHarry Pearce - Double Bass\nHarry Ling - Drums

SUMMARY:Let Spin
DESCRIPTION:“A new prog-jazz supergroup” — Jazzwise\n\n“British Punk Jazz with a wiry electrical crackle” — Uncut\n\n“An original identity that promises to be one of UK jazz's best\n...” — The Guardian\n\n“Eclectic\, impassioned and mind-blowing\, Let Spin have shifted\nup a few more gears into the stratosphere – and\nit's a blast” — LondonJazz\n\nLet Spin are a versatile post-jazz four piece with an egalitarian musical ethos. Comprising composer-instrumentalists Moss Freed (guitar)\, Ruth Goller (bass)\, Finlay Panter (drums)\, and Chris Williams (saxophone)\, the group formed in 2012\, when Freed invited three of his favourite musicians to fill a one-off series of live dates at short notice. Recognising an irrepressible musical connection\, they continued in earnest\, developing their sound over a pair of critically-acclaimed studio albums\, and a number of live shows throughout the UK.\n\nTheir forthcoming third album\, scheduled for release in spring 2020 on Efpi Records\, is a triumph in experimental post-jazz\, showcasing the band’s ever-broadening web of musical influences and individual progression as composers and performers.\n\nWith their particular blend of elusive melodies\, heavy grooves\, euphoric improv and playfulness with time\, Let Spin’s electrifying live shows have left UK audiences awe-struck. Their inspirations are far-reaching: from Rage Against The Machine to Hermeto Pascoal; Bill Frisell to J.S. Bach - coalesced into a sound that is truly their own. The enthusiasm of each performer has led them to work with some of contemporary jazz’s most exciting acts: Laura Jurd\, Sarathy Korwar\, Led Bib\, Beats & Pieces Big Band and Melt Yourself Down amongst others. Yet\, ultimately\, it is within this combination that their creativity truly shines.\n\nLine-up:\n\nChris Williams - Alto Sax\nMoss Freed - Guitar\nRuth Goller - Bass\nFinlay Panter - Drums\n\n
