SUMMARY:'UNE\, DEUX\, TROIS': SOME THINGS + CHARLOTTE KEEFFE / ROLAND RAMANAN (DUO)
DESCRIPTION:Part of a mini-tour by the 'arresting trumpet duo' some things\, this gig also features a first-time double trumpet combination of Charlotte Keeffe and Roland Ramanan\, playing an improvised set.\n\nsome things use original and other material as a basis for improvisations\, which results in interlocking solos\, tight unison patterns and free improvisations.\n\nThey have performed around the UK\, including as part of the Arts Council-funded Triple Bill Tour in December 2016\, at The Vortex\, and at the Lancaster Jazz Festival fringe event. This gig is part of a mini-tour to support their debut full-length album\, 'Positive Feedback'.\n\nCharlotte Keeffe is London-based trumpeter who performs solo and with her quartet\, amongst many other projects. She plays regularly with brass octet The Brass Monkeys\, and has performed with Laura Mvula\, Charlotte Church\, and in Moss Freed's Union Division.\n\nRoland Ramanan is also a London-based trumpeter. Some of his first experiences of improvised music were with the drummer John Stevens\, and he has since performed with Peter Brotzmann\, Alex Ward and Simon Fell. He leads the group Vole\, and performs regularly with the London Improvisers Orchestra.\n\nThe gig will feature two duos sets\, followed by a short trumpet quartet set.\n\nCome along for various approaches to the trumpet..!\nwww.somethingsgrowinthesea.uk\nwww.somethingsgrowinthesea.bandcamp.com/\nwww.charlottekeeffe.com

SUMMARY:TONY DUDU AND THE GUMBE JAZZ
DESCRIPTION:TONY DUDU (GUINEA BISSAU)\n\nGUINEA BISSAUAN guitarist TONY DUDU and his band Gumbe Jazz featuring Angolan percussionist TELLO MORGADO\, Mozambiquean drummer ELAIS KACOMANOLIS\, Nigerian bassist EMMANUEL OLADAKUN\, Ghanaian keyboardist EBENEZER KWAME bring their music which is highly influenced by sounds and rhythms of Guinea-Bissau\, a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast. The capital\, Bissau\, is a port with Portuguese influences and their fusion of rhythms explain the sounds of Tony Dudu.\n\nTony Dudu’s stylistic and technical brilliance has made his music unique and if you add the various influences of the countries his musicians come from (Angola\, Mozambique\, Nigeria and Ghana) you are beginning to get how Tony Dudu and Gumbe Jazz create such a unique sound.\n\nThe band has developed a musical language on their own and have developed a deep understanding of each musician’s playing that makes for mesmerising listening. This is the music that connects the sounds and rhythms of the African diaspora from Tony Dudu’s guitar.\n\nLine-up:\n\nTONY DUDU\, guitar\nTELLO MORGADO\, percussion\nELAIS KACOMANOLIS\, drums\nEMMANUEL OLADAKUN\, bass\nEBENEZER KWAME\, keyboards\n\n\n\n
