DESCRIPTION:About\n\n\nTom Remon is a young\, aspiring guitarist on the London Jazz scene. Having only recently graduated from Middlesex University\, his playing conveys a maturity beyond his years. Tom has been a part of the Jazz Warriors development program and has already played with some of the era’s most esteemed Jazz musicians\, including Denys Baptiste\, Steve Williamson and Gary Crosby.\n\nJim Mullen is a National Treasure of this country’s music scene\, and has been a relentless driving force and inspiration for many budding guitarist over his 5 decade career! Originally from Glasgow\, Jim later moved to London to play music professionally. From the early 70s onwards\, Jim has played in many influential bands which paved the way for countless musicians – Kokomo\, Morrissey-Mullen\, The Average White Band\, Gene Harris Quartet – to name but a few. Jim is an unbelievable improviser and he continues to be a regular performer with his own projects at esteemed venues such as Ronnie Scotts’ and The 606.  \n\nThis is an album which spans the generations of Jazz\, and is a quality debut album worthy of a place in any Jazz fan’s collection.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n“Check out Tom Remon\, A fresh and exciting new voice on the London Jazz Guitar scene!” Jim Mullen\n\n“Spinning lines of scintillating clarity” – Jazz Views\n\n“The language of these two musicians is modern and yet respectful of the tradition… Jim and Tom are engaging in a flowing and empathic conversation” – Jazz in Europe\n\n \n\n\nINSTRUCTIONS FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS – PLEASE READ\nWelcome back to the Vortex. Please note that we’ve implemented the following changes to our systems to make the club as Covid-safe as we can:\n\n \tPlease buy tickets in advance as there will be no door sales. There will be twenty tickets only on sale for each gig.\n \tIf you want to sit together with other people as a group we would ask that one person books all the tickets for the group\, so that we are aware that you want to sit together.\n \tUp to six people may sit together as a group (unless the group consists of two households only in which case more than six may sit together).\n \tWe ask you not to attend gigs if you have or think you may have any Covid-19 symptoms.\n \tWe will ask you on entry to sign in for NHS Test and Trace using the NHS Covid app (or\, if you do not have a smartphone. we will ask you to sign in manually)\n \tThere will be no standing at gigs. Everyone who books a ticket will be allocated a seat\, but we cannot guarantee that you will have a table.\n \tOrders for drinks and snacks will be taken and paid for using the Butlr app which you can download on arrival. (If you do not have a smartphone then your order will be taken at the table and you can make a contactless payment. We do not accept cash.)\n \tWe ask that everyone wears a mask when moving around inside the building.\n \tWe ask everyone to observe social distancing at all times.\n \tAutomatic hand sanitiser stations are provided at various places within the building and we encourage regular use of hand sanitiser.\n \tFull details of the measures that we are taking to prevent transmission of Covid are set out in our risk assessment and management plan which can be found on our website.\n

DESCRIPTION:"IMPROV NIGHTS" is a regular event at The Vortex Jazz Club - Downstairs curated by London-based drummer and percussionist Stefano Ancora.\nAbout\nLIVE DUO and TRIO sets of improvised music\, with a different set-up every time\, then followed by an open jam session and tasty records selection.\n\nALL IN A REAL-TIME MUSICAL CONVERSATION!!\n\n9pm --> doors (or anytime earlier)\n\n9:30pm --> dj-set warm up\n\n10:30pm-12am --> live duo/trio 1st & 2nd sets\n\n12am-1am --> jam session\n\n1am-2am --> dj-set\n\n"It's the honesty you apply to your playing that makes music enjoyable. The style of the music has little to do with it" (Elvin Ray Jones)\n\nVortex kitchen open until 10:30pm so come nice and early for a hot meal - variety of mixed-Asian style fritters and traditional Jamaican meals both available!!\n\nBar open throughout the night serving selection of draught beers and bottles\, wines and cocktails.\n\nCovid-19 protective measures will be followed - limited capacity\, advance booking\, face covering\, tables/chairs distancing and drinks/food service.
