SUMMARY:Fini Bearman - La Loba (1st show)
DESCRIPTION:Line-up:\nFini Bearman - vocals / guitar\n\nTom Cawley - piano\n\nConor Chaplin - double bass\n\nJames Maddren - drums\n\n \nAbout\n\nSinger-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Fini Bearman’s fourth album\, La Loba (October 2020)\, has already received glowing praise\, including 4 ****’s and ‘Editors Choice’ from Jazzwise - ‘La Loba marks Bearman out as one of contemporary music’s most imaginative song stylists’ (Peter Quinn). Tonight\, Fini comes together with Tom Cawley (piano)\, James Maddren (drums) and Conor Chaplin (bass) to perform the songs from this record\, in the wonderfully intimate setting of the vortex.\n\nSpanning a wide range of musical textures and lyrical themes\, ‘La Loba’ is infused with world-wide influences\, from American folklore\, to stories of young children in East Berlin. These are songs about womanhood and childhood; looking for love and finding it; femininity\, courage and the life-long journey towards individuation. As well as drawing luscious and vivid imagery\, this new collection of songs is a celebration of all the dimensions of life as well as a call to arms - challenging the listener to stand up and find their own voice.\n\n \n‘We all begin as a bundle of bones lost somewhere in the desert\, a dismantled skeleton that lies under the sand. It is our work to recover the parts.’  Clarissa Pinkola Estés - Women Who Run With Wolves\n\n\n\n'…Skilful and accurate… wistful soulfulness'  - John Fordham\, The Guardian\n\n\n\n\n\n[embed]https://youtu.be/9emAGxRbDE4[/embed]\n\n \n\n\nINSTRUCTIONS FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS – PLEASE READ\nWelcome to the Vortex.
