DESCRIPTION:Line-up\nDavid Austin Grey – Piano\n\nSam Wooster - Trumpet\n\nXhosa Cole - Tenor Saxophone\, Flute\n\nShivraj Singh - Double Bass\n\nNathan Jones - Drums\n\n \nAbout\n\n\nRich\, reflective\, open-hearted and lyrical jazz. A Hologram Maze is led by pianist/composer David Austin Grey. This line-up features brand new music played by five of the UK's finest improvising musicians\, all close friends\, bringing the music a deep sense of understanding and common purpose.\n\nPieced together over the past two years\, a vast amount of David’s new material was written during the UK’s various lockdowns and was “born from the idea of turning personal troubles\, thoughts\, emotions and anxieties into something positive and finding a way to express them musically.\n\nThe results are unsurprisingly reflective\, rich yet subtly refined\, energetic explorations tempered by twinkling moments of tenderness\, the listener swept along on a tide of understatedly elegant sincerity from the start of each song to its finish.\n\nBoasting influences as far ranging as Chick Corea\, A Tribe Called Quest\, Miles Davis\, Faure\, Shostakovich\, Brian Blade\, Adrianne Lenker\, Nina Simone\, Max Richter and Ben Wendel\, David has long since been a stalwart of the UK scene. The band have recently wrapped up the recording of debut release; 'The Beauty Of A Co-Pilot' at Birmingham’s Sansom Studios - featuring a special guest appearance from Haitian vocalist Germa Adan.\n\nA Hologram Maze also features former BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year Xhosa Cole (tenor sax/flute).\n\n
