DESCRIPTION:Doors 7pm\, music 7.30pm\n \nLine-up:\nGermana Stella La Sorsa - Voice\nSam Leak - Organ\nTom Ollendorff - guitar\nJay Davis - Drum kit\n \nAbout\nWith her debut album “Vapour”\, Italian Jazz Singer and Storyteller Germana Stella La Sorsa has set out to break down both aesthetic and musical jazz conventions in a melting pot of styles.\n\nAfter relocating from Puglia to London\, Germana’s unique talent was quickly recognised leading to performances at some of the most prestigious London jazz venues.\n\nThe move to London inspired La Sorsa to compose new material and this creative impetus eventually led to the composition of much of the music on her debut album: 'Vapour'.\n\nIn its style and conception\, the music is very eclectic\, crossing the boundaries of genre but steeped in modern sounds with a nod to the avant-garde. Recorded with a Hammond Trio\, Germana has channeled a wide range of influences into a contemporary jazz album that includes the music of Frank Zappa and Hermeto Pascoal.\n\nThe tunes are full of heavy grooves and rich in electrifying moments with captivating melodies enhanced by Germana’s distinctive instrumental use of her voice\, coloured with effects and harmonies.\n\nGermana's quartet have created a modern\, open and sophisticated album\, fully tuned in to the current wave of contemporary UK jazz.\n\n“Once in a while you hear a musician that stops you in your tracks and you can’t ignore.\n\nUpon hearing Germana La Sorsa for the first time a few years ago I was blown away by her individual and unique style of singing\, I was lucky enough to hear her live\, my first thoughts were that she sings with a beautifully clear and warm tone with shades of the Brazilian iconic vocalist Flora Purim.”\n\nTony Kofi\n\n"The music is stimulating but never banal\, the space between improvisation and written parts is fresh\, seamless and the interplay between the musicians is perfectly balanced."\n\nSimone Gubbiotti\, Jazz in Europe\n\n“...a beautifully inventive and explorative work.
