DESCRIPTION:Cath Longbottom’s film weaves concert and rehearsal footage around an extensive interview with veteran free pianist Howard Riley as he reflects on his career\, evolution and ethos. Featuring insights from bassist Barry Guy and drummer Lucas Niggli\, it includes gig footage from Riley’s last ever collaboration with Keith Tippett at the Steinway Spirio Two-Piano Festival at London’s PizzaExpress Soho.\n\nThe documentary will be accompanied by a concert film of this historic performance\, recorded in March 2016.\nThe recording was recently released as a CD by Howard's record company with the blessing of Keith's widow Julie\, and will be available to purchase at the screening.\n\n \nPROGRAMME\n3.15pm - Documentary film screening "Howard Riley - Cheerfully beyond category"\n\n3.45pm - Q&A with director Cath Longbottom\n\nSHORT BREAK \n\n4.20pm - Concert film - "A Conversation Between Two Pianos"

DESCRIPTION:Doors 7.45pm\, music 8.10pm\n\n \nHouse band\nTBC\n\n \nAbout\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter a long hiatus\, you can once again head to Dalston and catch up-and-coming musicians play alongside some of the most innovative improvisers from across the scene.\n\nA weekly session on Sunday evenings\, the jams will be hosted by four of London’s finest: drummer Jas Kayser\, pianist Rick Simpson and tenor saxophonists Helena Kay and Riley Stone-Lonergan\, each one hosting one session on rotation.\n\n \n\nIf you’re an instrumentalist - we can’t wait to welcome you back to the club - you can attend for free if you’re planning on playing with the house band.
