This quintet is Gorodi's latest project to reflect his interests in traditional and contemporary ideas in Jazz and features some of the UK's most distinctive Jazz musicians.\n\nGorodi released his debut album Apophenia on Ubuntu in 2019 featuring his original compositions for Nonet. His versatility has seen him work across many styles of music with projects and musicians such as Ian Shaw\, Jamie Callum\, BBC Big Band\, Barry Green\, SEED Ensemble\, Yazz Ahmed\, Femi Temowo\, The London Jazz Orchestra\, Kansas Smitty’s House Band\, London City Big Band\, Hackney Colliery Band\, The Ticklers\, Riot Jazz and many others.\n\nNathaniel Facey\, one of the UK’s most impressive saxophonists\, has worked with the likes of Jack DeJohnette and Jason Moran\, and is a founding member of the multi award-winning group Empirical.\n\nAlcyona Mick is a pianist working at the forefront of the London jazz scene and has been performing internationally for many years. She is a member of the London Jazz Orchestra\, Tori Freestone/Alcyona Mick Duo\, Bachar Zarkan ensemble\, Eddie Parker's Debussy Mirrored ensemble\, Josephine Davies’ Orenda trio\, Brigitte Beraha Lucid dreamers\, Randolph Matthews band\, Merit Ariane Ensemble\, Noel Langley’s Edentide ensemble\, John Warren Nonet\, Paul Clarvis/Stuart Hall trio\, Samy Bishai quartet. She has worked with Anglo/Egyptian singer Natacha Atlas for many years\, performing worldwide. She has played on TRT music series in Istanbul with many Turkish artists\, and performed with a wide array of other musicians including Yazz Ahmed\, Ingrid and Christine Jensen/Whirlwind bigband\, Nikki Iles bigband\, Alec Dankworth/Cleo Laine band\, Mircan Kaya\, Jerry Dammers Spatial aka Orchestra\, Ibrahim Maalouf\, Macadi Nahhas\, Zoe Rahman and many more.\n\nLondon-based double bassist and composer Calum Gourlay is known for his deep warm tone\, controlled execution as both a supporter and improviser\, and rock-solid time and pulse. Born in Glasgow\, he began his musical journey playing the cello in primary school and by the age of 14 he started playing the double bass\, having developed a serious interest in jazz and improvised music. Calum has become a mainstay on the London jazz scene while performing with the Kit Downes Trio\, The Tommy Smith Group\, Will Vinson\, The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra featuring Joe Lovano and John Scofield. Calum also works with Kurt Elling\, Martin Speake\, Martin Kershaw and Sheila Jordan. He writes for his own big band which has a monthly residency at the Vortex in London\n\nCurrently one of the UK’s (and increasingly Mainland Europe’s) first-call young drummers\, James Maddren enjoys listening to and performing all kinds of music and has shared the stage with many artists and ensembles including Gwilym Simcock\, Kit Downes Trio\, Jacob Collier\, Marc Copland/Stan Sulzmann Quartet\, The Mark McKnight Organ Quartet featuring Seamus Blake\, Ivo Neame Group\, Phil Donkin\, Alex Garnett’s Bunch of Five\, Michael Janisch\, Will Vinson\, Martin Speake Quartet\, Phronesis\, Jonathan Bratoeff Quartet\, Nikki Iles\, Norma Winstone\, among others.
