DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:45 PM\, Music 8:30 PM - 2 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nAsha Parkinson- Saxophone\n\nRebecka Edlund - Voice\n\nAlex Wilson- Piano\n\nKonstantinos Glynos - Qanun\n\nMyra Brownbridge - Bass\n\nTheo Guttenplan - Drums\n\n \nAbout\nDynamic and prolific 23-year-old London-based saxophonist\, composer and arranger\, Asha Parkinson founded the Kalpadruma Collective in 2017 to explore authentic\, vital and exciting meeting points between Jazz\, Contemporary Classical\, Mediterranean\, Arab\, and Indian music traditions. The group has performed in many diverse line-ups- from a saxophone and qanun duo\, a jazz quintet to a 14-piece mini studio orchestra. After four years of performing at major venues such as Ronnie Scott’s\, the Union Chapel\, and the Jazz Seven Leeds series\, Asha premiered her debut album Onwards featuring Kalpadruma at Spice Jazz\, Soho in June 2022.\n\nAsha presents an eclectic programme of original repertoire from the debut album Onwards alongside new material from the upcoming album Possession. The new music explores different states of possession- from hysteria to obsessive love to mystical inspiration. Complimenting this will be some of her arrangements of film composer\, Ennio Morricone and Turkish baglama music.
