DESCRIPTION:Doors 6:30 PM\, Music 7:30 PM - 1 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nShirley Smart - Cello\n\nDemi Garcia Sabat - Drums\n\nJames Arben - Tenor Saxophone\, Flute\n\n \nAbout\nStories is a trilogy of freely improvised albums.\n\nIt was recorded immediately after the lockdown in April 2021 during the Covid 19 pandemic and we were all just being allowed tentatively to see friends again. Basically we went into Slipway studio and let loose for a day in a hopefully creative\, definitely cathartic\, way\, and reminded ourselves once again of the necessity for music-making in our lives\, as well as the friendships and connections that come with a life as a creative artist.\n\nThe result was 19 improvised tracks that became this release\, for which a limited edition of hard copies has been made and we celebrate the release of tonight (although obviously with different improvisations......we're not transcribing that lot!)\n\nShirley\, Demi and James are long-time collaborators in a variety of different projects spanning a wide range of musical genres\, and the idea of bringing those influences into a freely improvised context was a common interest and musical impetuses behind the sessions.\n\nSimone Fillali\, who recorded and produced the album\, and Alban Low\, who is a frequent collaborator on visual work\, are also a part of that world of creativity that we missed and needed so much.\n\nCome and join us in a celebration of creative music-making and its place in our lives.\n\n \n\nStories: Part 1 - The Dragonfly de Shirley Smart\, Demi Garcia Sabat and James Arben\n\nStories: Part 3 - Subterranean Journey de Shirley Smart\, Demi Garcia Sabat\, James Arben\n
