SUMMARY:Jazz and Natural Wine featuring Will Barry Trio
DESCRIPTION:A wine tasting in collaboration with Dan’s Wine in Dalston\, involving live jazz.\nThe Vortex will open its doors to Natural wine on Thursday 30th November 2023 for a Jazz and Natural wine tasting.\n\nFour wines enhanced by great jazz. We shall be serving a Pet’ Nat (Ca’di Rajo “Le Moss”)\,White (a Cadiz palomino of Hacienda la Parilla)\, Orange (Valdibella la Ning’s 2021] and Red wine (Domaine Lattard’s 2020 Syrah). All kinds of provenances\, grape varieties and degrees of funk! We are collaborating with Natty Boy wines of Dan's Wine Bar to make this a uniquely Dalston night of fun.\n\nThis event is welcoming to all\, both newbies and old aficionados. There is something for the jazz fan with a curiosity for better drinking and the wine lover who wouldn’t mind a little dance with their booze.\n\nCome along and bring your friends.\n\n\n\nMusic by Will Barry Trio. Will Barry (piano)\, Flo Moore (bass)\, Jay Davies (drums)\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWill Barry is known at the Vortex particularly for his adept playing with\, for example\, Jasper Høiby in Planet B\, and Heidi Vogel’s Latin band. He was also Musician’s Company Young Jazz Musician of the Year.\n\n\nDan’s Wine Bar in Dalston has built a reputation for astute wine selection\, especially of natural wines. So is a perfect partner for our event. They have a quality for wine\, in the same way as the Vortex has a reputation for the best jazz!\n\n ————-+\nDoors will open at 19h00.\nNo Refunds (We are a not-for-profit venue and any wine we buy is paid for by ticket sales!)\nWill include light nibbles.

SUMMARY:Wanja Slavin "libelle" feat. Laura Jurd\, Ruth Goller\, Johannes Lauer & James Maddren
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:45 PM\, Music 8:30 PM - 2 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nWanja Slavin - Alto Saxophone\n\nLaura Jurd - Trumpet\n\nJohannes Lauer - Piano\n\nRuth Goller - Bass Guitar\n\nJames Maddren - Drums\n\n \nAbout\nA distinctive feature in the career of Wanja Slavin\, the alto saxophonist born in 1982 in Freiburg and living in Berlin since 2005\, is his rare engagement with long-lasting bands. Slavin seeks the thrill in change – whether it's reshuffling a newly established band to immerse himself in the unique experience of collaborating with musicians on stage for the first time. This approach allows him to freely engage in improvisation\, uninfluenced by precedents or clichés\, ensuring that every phrase\, note\, and line he plays on his saxophone sounds unique and remains one-of-a-kind.\n\nPhoto credit: Dovile Sermokas \n\n
