SUMMARY:LJO VORTEX SESSIONS Featuring Pete Hurt and Henry Lowther
DESCRIPTION:Doors 3:00 PM\, Music 3:30 PM\n \nABOUT\nAmongst the greats of their generation\, saxophonist Pete Hurt and trumpeter Henry Lowther stand out as unique with their personal styles\, sounds and virtuosity. They have played together for decades in the LJO and in each other's bands\, and have been featured with a host of artists including Gil Evans\, Kenny Wheeler\, George Russell\, Stan Sulzmann and Carla Bley.  Equally renowned as writers\, their original music is a staple of the LJO’s repertoire\, and this month we bring it to the fore.\n \nThe LJO will be donating proceeds from their performance on 4 February to Epilepsy Action in memory of Sasha Lowther\, son of trumpeter Henry Lowther. Sasha\, whose birthday is 4 February\, recently passed away as a result of complications from epilepsy.

DESCRIPTION:Doors 7.45pm\, music 8.15pm\n\n \nHouse band\nTBC\nAbout\n\n\n\n\n\nA weekly session on Sunday evenings\, the jams will be hosted by four of London’s finest: drummer Jas Kayser\, pianist Rick Simpson and tenor saxophonists Helena Kay and Riley Stone-Lonergan\, each one hosting one session on rotation.\n\nIf you’re an instrumentalist  you can attend for free if you’re planning on playing with the house band.
