SUMMARY:Dom Pusey Trio
DESCRIPTION:Doors 6:30 PM\, Music 7:30 PM - 1 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nDom Pusey - Tenor Saxophone\n\nChris Bland - Organ\n\nFilippo Galli - Drums\n\n \nAbout\nDom Pusey grew up in Hertfordshire. Surrounded by music from the beginning\, he was introduced to the saxophone at the age of 8\, igniting his lifelong passion for music. He started performing on sax and guitar from age 15 and played his first professional gigs not long after.\n\nAfter studying at the University of North Texas and graduating from the University of Leeds\, Dom moved to London in 2016 and has collaborated with many artists such as producer Wilma Archer\, singer Celeste and even performed with legendary soul band The O'Jays. He is a quarter of the band Stratos\, playing weekly in Hackney and featuring rising stars Mike de Souza\, Rio Kai and Jamie Murray.\n\n2024 has seen the release of original music featuring his working trio with Chris Bland (keys) and Filippo Galli (drums). Their music unapologetically harks back to the classic organ trio sound\, whilst pushing in a modern direction\, equally influenced by soul\, rock and the BAM tradition.\n\n \n[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNThRx5x-Z4[/embed]\n\n \n\n[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to1btGkjpWw[/embed]

SUMMARY:Jakub Klimiuk Quintet featuring Mark Lockheart - ’(un)balanced’ Album Launch
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:45 PM\, Music 8:30 PM - 2 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nJakub Klimiuk - Guitar\n\nSimeon May - Tenor Saxophone\, Bass Clarinet\n\nMark Lockheart - Tenor Saxophone\n\nAitziber Cofré Real - Vocals\n\nCody Moss - Piano\n\nHuw V Williams - Double bass\n\nAdam Merrell - Drums\n\n \nAbout\nA London-based guitarist Jakub Klimiuk celebrates the release of his quintet’s latest album ’(un)balanced’. The band\, joined by the outstanding saxophonist Mark Lockheart as a special guest\, will perform Jakub’s original compositions that blend melodic themes with experimental sonic escapades\, merging scripted forms and improvised sections.\n\nSince releasing their debut EP ‘Reluctance’ in 2022\, the quintet has regularly toured the UK\, performing at the EFG London Jazz Festival and major jazz venues\, including PizzaExpress Live and Verdict Jazz Club. The distinctive sound of the band is shaped by the unique creative voices of five highly in-demand young musicians\, who have individually worked with Martin Speake\, Tom Challenger\, NYJO\, Hans Koller\, among others.\n\nThe band’s new album tells the story of seeking balance in today’s reality\, manoeuvring through the overwhelming deluge of information and striving to discover inspiration in everyday routine. Jakub’s writing reflects the titular state between order and chaos. The pieces blend harmony with disorder\, dissonance with consonance\, free improvisation with structured forms. Drawing inspiration from contrasting influences ranging from traditional jazz to the Scandinavian improvised scene and contemporary New York jazz\, the quintet creates a sound full of exciting tension.\n\n„(...) Klimiuk has an ability to create a warm harmonic ambiance around the sound of the others\, it is only a matter of time before someone mistakes his sound and his generous spirit for those of the great Bill Frisell.” Sebastian Scotney (London Jazz News)\n\n"Thrilling … Startlingly accomplished" - Stephen Graham from Marlbank\, 4/5 stars pre-release review\n\n"Jakub is a promising guitarist/composer with a creative\, open-minded approach to music and a strong work ethic. His new quintet album with Mark Lockheart is really impressive." - Ivo Neame\n\n[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPH2LEN4wPo[/embed]\n\nReluctance de Jakub Klimiuk Quintet
