A joyful celebration of melody and harmonic exploration that intertwines personal emotion with the powerful stories of historically adventurous women\, the ensemble brings together some of the most talented artists from across the UK jazz scene.\nSince releasing her debut album with contemporary jazz group ‘Ensemble C’ in 2020\, Claire Cope has continued to steadily grow her presence as a composer across both jazz and contemporary classical music and her music has been performed in Europe and America. Winner of a 2022 Marvin Hamlisch International Award in Jazz Composition\, the LunArt Festival Call for Scores in 2024 and recipient of an Arts Council DYCP grant in 2023\, she has expanded her band into an exciting 11-piece project that brings together celebrated jazz musicians from London\, the North West and Scotland. Joined by the great talents of Brigitte Beraha\, Ant Law\, Matt Carmichael and Anoushka Nanguy amongst others\, her latest music pushes her vision of contemporary jazz with long form pieces reflective of her love of composers such as Pat Metheny and Maria Schenider. Claire’s music is a joyful and uplifting celebration of courage and finding inner peace\, intertwining both her own narrative with the powerful stories of historically adventurous women.\nIn this performance\, the band will present entirely new music from their new album\, which will be released on New York based Adhyaropa Records in early 2025.\n“Ensemble C’s debut album forecasts a promising future for Cope as a composer\, concretizing a versatile vision of contemporary jazz that never loses direction.” – JAZZTRAIL\, NEW YORK\n “This album is full of choices\, decisions\, an intricate working between the musicians and as a voyage through life is working and full of promise at times\, whilst calm and reflective at others. Very enjoyable and the music reveals Cope as a musician with a deep sense of communication and musical community.” – SAMMY STEIN\, JAZZ VIEWS\n“Composer and pianist Claire Cope has released a stunning debut album entitled ‘Small World’. Inspired by her love of travelling and human experience and connections\, Claire along with her fantastic band\, Ensemble C\, take us on a wistful and fulfilling journey.
