SUMMARY:Fini Bearman - Last Night of the World - Album Launch + Support
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:45 PM\, Music 8:30 PM - 2 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nFini Bearman - voice\nTom Cawley - Piano\nAl Cherry - Guitar\nJames Maddren - Drum kit\nRobin Mullarky - Bass guitar\nAbout\nLaunching her 5th studio album\, Last Night of the World (Pastiche Records)\, Fini is joined tonight by her full band for a special night\, showcasing the music from this new record. An eclectic collection of jazz\, folk & pop-infused songs\, Last Night of the World draws on Fini’s experiences of motherhood & new beginnings\, of love & loss and of a new-found sense of meaning (or sometimes an existential lack thereof!). The record was conceived using writing exercises created for her work teaching songwriting\, and these seeds grew over time\, coming to fruition in tandem with her pregnancy; final vocal and instrumental takes often taking place with Bridget asleep in a sling... Inspiration for the songs is drawn from a diverse spectrum of influences: the melodic inventiveness of Madison Cunningham\, the esoteric jazz/folk realms of Becca Stevens\, Chris Thile\, Paul Simon and the electronic\, minimalist songwriting voice of Bjork. This album marks a departure from Fini's last LP (the solo record La Loba\, 2020) and acts as a return to her true 'musical north'- a jazz-meets-indie-pop rhythm section playing lyric-based songs\, with nuanced and at times complex harmonic structures and rhythmic idiosyncrasies. Each song is individual and unique in its own right\, with space for improvisation\, interaction and connection.\n+ support TBC

SUMMARY:Dalston Song Club w/ Reid Jenkins
DESCRIPTION:Doors 10:30 PM\, Music 11:00 PM\n \nABOUT\n\nOur monthly late night series brings songwriters together to perform in the round\, hosted by Matthew Herd. This month we welcome the amazing Reid Jenkins\, in a rare visit from New York.\n\n \nReid Jenkins\n\nReid Jenkins is a New York City-based violinist\, songwriter\, and producer. His 2023 album “Hall of Gems\,” is a lush baroque bedroom pop jaunt sprung from the mind of a recovering over-thinker. Lacking the resources to tour with the symphony of sounds featured on the record\, he’s bringing these songs to the stage with his voice and a guitar. In addition to his solo work\, he is the co-founder of indie-folk-pop band Morningsiders and avant-folk trio Bold Forbes. He has composed and recorded string parts for such artists as Taylor Swift\, Ed Sheeran\, Maya Hawke\, Cassandra Jenkins\, Elanor Moss\, Margaux\, Gabe Goodman\, Will Stratton\, Gatlin\, Tor Miller\, Adrian Simon\, among others.\n
