DESCRIPTION:Doors 3:30 PM\, Music 4:00 PM\n \nABOUT\nTo top off it’s 33rd season at the Vortex\, the London Jazz Orchestra celebrates the 75th birthday of phenomenal pianist and composer Pete Saberton\, whose unique writing and playing style helped define the sound of the band. Taking over from founding pianist John Taylor\, and succeeded by current pianist-composer Alcyona Mick\, “Sabbo" was the LJO’s pianist for 20 years until his death in 2012. He produced a string of totally original and delightful pieces\, many which the LJO recorded on The Saberton Album.  He was a huge inspiration to all those who had the pleasure of playing with him and the performance includes tribute pieces by saxophonist and long-time colleague Pete Hurt and lead trumpet Noel Langley.

DESCRIPTION:Doors 7.45pm\, music 8.15pm\n\nAbout\n\n\n\n\n\nA weekly session on Sunday evenings\, the jams will be hosted by some of London’s finest: drummer Jas Kayser\, pianist Rick Simpson\, guitarist Nick Costley-White\, trumpeter Sean Gibbs and tenor saxophonists Harben Kay and Riley Stone-Lonergan (+ sometimes a few guest leaders) each one hosting one session on rotation.\n\nIf you’re an instrumentalist  you can attend for free if you’re planning on playing with the house band. No need to book in advance!\n\nOur dear Vortex members are also welcome to these sessions free of charge.\n\n\n\n\n
