SUMMARY:Stian Larsen / Colin Webster / Ruth Goller / Andrew Lisle
DESCRIPTION:Doors 6:45 PM\, Music 7:30 PM - 1 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nStian Larsen - Guitar\n\nColin Webster - Alto saxophone\n\nRuth Goller - Bass Guitar\n\nAndrew Lisle - Drums\n\n \nAbout\nNorwegian guitarist Stian Larsen has for a number of years been recognized as an energetic and highly inventive improviser in the avant-garde music scene in Norway. The collaboration with the British reed player Colin Webster and percussionist Andrew Lisle is an exciting exploration of the electric guitar and interplay across musical borders.\n\nAfter releasing two albums as a trio they invited bassist Ruth Goller into the studio to record their third album «Temple of Muses».\n\nWebster and Lisle's energetic free jazz meets Larsen and Goller’s post-rock\, noise guitars in an exciting interaction that is dynamic\, playful and hard-hitting. The Album was released on New York label Relative Pitch on January 24th.\n\n \n\nPraise for «Temple of Muses»:\n\n«Excellent stuff! This\, and I mean the whole record\, has to be played with the volume on 11» - Mark Daelmans-Sikkel\, Vital Weekly\n\n«A show of free\, genre bending\, brilliantly communicated fun» - Spontaneous Music Tribune\n\n«On the one hand\, the often explosive free jazz of Webster and Lisle; on the other\, the post-rock of Larsen and Goller\, made of abrasive guitars\, in an intense interaction that leaves no stone unturned» - António Branco\, jazz.pt\n\n«Raw and immediate\, fast and brutal sonic collisions» - Eyal Hareuveni\, saltpeanuts.eu\n\n«Some ancient muses may have been fickle\, but the ones summoned by this quartet help elevate a session that is as rewarding as it is raucous» - Ken Waxman\, Squid’s Ear\n\n«This disc has a freeish\, electric\, sorta punk/jazz sound with lots for fractured eruptions (...) Most impressive!» - Bruce Lee Gallanter\, DMG\n\n«The bass drum section is on fire\, Andrew LISLE pulses finely\, LARSEN can play his arpeggios\, Ruth GOLLER's bass is well rounded\, saxophonist Colin WEBSTER is not shy either...» - Valery John Klebar\, stnt.org\n\n \nhttps://youtu.be/RDn9NeB5_38?si=kwyoHNzAt_Z7D2NV
