SUMMARY:Junior Jazz Workshop with the Nick Costley-White Trio
DESCRIPTION:About\n\nJoin us for a fun-filled day of learning and jamming at the Vortex! The Nick Costley-White Trio will be leading interactive workshops for young jazz enthusiasts looking to hone their skills. This is a great opportunity to learn from talented musicians and meet other young jazz lovers. Don't miss out on this exciting event!\n\nGuitarist Nick Costley-White is a mainstay of the UK jazz scene\, regularly performing sell out weekend shows at the Vortex and leading the Sunday jam sessions. For this limited 4 week period Nick and his trio will be leading weekly workshops at the Vortex\, aimed at keen and advancing jazz students aged 12-19 hoping to deepen their knowledge of improvisation and get invaluable playing experience with a world class rhythm section.\n\nThanks to funding gratefully received from the Arts Council England the session will be free to attend\, but as spaces are limited booking in advance is highly recommended using the Eventbrite link below.\n\nThe workshop series will be delving into jazz standard songs (music will be made available to students in advance). We’ll be working on the foundational skills for jazz improvising on chord sequences\, whilst also addressing core elements of sound\, rhythm and group interplay.\n\nThe workshops are open to anyone who’s interested and keen to learn\, but we do recommend that students have at least an intermediate level of instrumental ability to get the most out of these sessions. Attending all 4 classes is advised and we’ll be giving an informal performance in the last workshop for friends and family to attend!\n\nParents and chaperones are welcome to sit in for the sessions. Nick and his trio of Josh Morrison and Tom Farmer are highly experienced teachers and have full DBS certificates.\n\n \n\n
