SUMMARY:Talkline
DESCRIPTION:Doors 6:45 PM\, Music 7:30 PM - 1 set of music\n \nLine-up:\nWill Hobson - Piano\nAmy Hollingsworth - Voice\nRory Hudson - Double bass\n\n \nAbout:\nTalkline represents the musical collaboration between vocalist and vibraphone player Amy Hollingsworth and pianist Will Hobson.\n\nAmy and Will began working on original music together in 2021\, however their friendship spans over a decade. These years of shared experiences across their formative years into adulthood has led to an output of work that feels both intimate and conversational\, which musically blurs the lines between jazz\, singer-songwriter and minimalism. Particular influences on Talkline’s sound range from Seafarers and Lucy Rose to Hiatus Kaiyote and Steve Reich.\n\nThe band will be performing their original music\, which has had regular radio support from SWR2 in Germany and BBC Introducing Essex and Cambridgeshire. Their songs have also been featured in articles by Plastic Magazine (UK)\, Cage Riot Magazine (US) and discussed on the comedy podcast Chatabix.\n\nAmy and Will will be joined by long time friend and collaborator Rory Hudson on the double bass for this performance\, with new arrangements and interpretations for this trio lineup of Talkline.\n\n‘I bloody love them’ - David Earl on the Chatabix Podcast\n\n‘a sound that feels both timeless and refreshingly modern’ - blazemuse magazine\n\n \n\n[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vspSTkYXrbU&list=RDvspSTkYXrbU&start_radio=1[/embed]

SUMMARY:Vortex Unplugged: George Crotty Trio
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:45 PM\, Music 8:30 PM - 2 set(s) of music\n \nLine-up:\nGeorge Crotty - Cello\n\nMikele Montolli - Bass\n\nAdam Teixeira - Percussion\n\n \nAbout\nThe George Crotty Trio (GC3) makes multicultural chamber music that is both cinematic and conversational. They draw on influences within jazz and global music traditions; using the language of other cultures to speak new things. “I’m not at home in any one culture\,” muses Crotty\, “so the trio became my home.”\n\nCanadian cellist George Crotty has forged his own exciting vocabulary\, pushing the boundaries of the cello. Following his graduation from the Berklee College of Music\, Crotty immersed himself in New York’s jazz and world music scenes\, playing with several ensembles\, such as the Brooklyn Raga Massive\, and Detroit-based National Arab Orchestra. Crotty has also worked with esteemed musicians such as Bob Ezrin\, Adam Rudolph\, Simon Shaheen\, and Paquito D’Rivera.\n\nThe trio’s 2025 release\, “Heart Music”\, is a transatlantic travelogue of creative encounters in Copenhagen\, Delft\, Berlin\, Toronto\, and Brooklyn. Inspired by the Nordic jazz scene\, Hindustani raga\, and contemporary chamber music\, the album takes the form of an eight-part suite\, telling a story of curiosity and exploration.\n\n“a solid brew of skill and inspiration from around the world”\n- WholeNote Magazine\n\n“artistic honesty that refuses to shout\, choosing instead to speak clearly\, beautifully\, and with purpose.”\n- Paris Move\n\n \nIf you’re noise sensitive\, know someone who is or are just curious to experience the changes that have been made\, join us for this audio inclusive gig with the George Crotty Trio for an evening of boundary-pushing cello and multicultural chamber music.\n\nThis special unplugged gig forms part of the Sownd Affects Hearing Wellness Week 2026 - the UK's first celebration of sound-conscious living. The week's programme explores how sound influences mental and physical health and delivers experiences with the aim to promote joy\, spark conversation and enable connection for the1 in 3 sensitive to noise. The week will be a hybrid of in person and virtual experiences\, to enable global audience participation.
