DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:45 PM\, Music 8:30 PM - 2 sets of music\n \nLine-up:\nReuben Goldmark - Piano\nFreddie Jensen - Double bass\nJonah Evans - Drum kit\n\n \nAbout:\nReuben Goldmark returns to the Vortex with his trio to premiere a brand new set of original compositions.\n\nOver the past four years\, the band has developed a unique approach to the classic piano trio format. Lyrical melodies and hooks playfully dance over high-tech beats and grooves that seem to have a life of their own — constantly in flux and transforming at will. Their sound is compact and focused\, with the leader’s unmistakable piano touch in the foreground. United as a single entity\, they navigate intricate polyrhythms and metric modulations with such ease that the complexity fades into the periphery\, revealing music filled with emotion and rooted in joy.\n\nReuben was a finalist in the esteemed BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition and his compositions were featured on BBC 4 and BBC Radio 3. He was awarded the Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition in both 2022 and 2023\, making him the first ever back-to-back recipient of the award. As a performer\, he has graced numerous prestigious venues across the UK\, including select appearances at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival\, Snape Maltings as part of the Aldeburgh Festival and Saffron Hall. Reuben is a Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Young Artist. He recorded his debut album in April 2025. Produced by mentor and friend Kit Downes\, it is set to be released in mid-2027 and will also feature two of Amsterdam’s most in demand musicians: Reinier Baas on guitar and Ketija Ringa-Karahona on flute.
