About

The Trinity Laban Jazz Orchestra conducted by Calum Gourlay returns to the Vortex with the extraordinary boundary-pushing improviser and exuberant large-scale composer Percy Pursglove, in a UK premiere of his latest ensemble work, originally commissioned by the Hamburg-based NDR big band.

After formative years New York, Percy is at the very cutting edge of the European scene, in leadership and collaboration with the main shakers and movers such as Pablo Held, and as soloist with leading jazz and contemporary music groups such as the ensemble modern in Paris and projects led by Evan Parker and Barry Guy.

A rare opportunity to hear Percy’s incredible improv language, virtuosity and spontaneity amid his own beautiful orchestral music.
