Doors 10:30 PM, Music 11:00 PM

ABOUT

Our monthly late night series brings together some of the most prominent voices in contemporary songwriting, hosted by Matthew Herd. This month brings together the brilliant folk-tinged Lily Lyons in a rare duo outing with pianist and writer Angus Bayley.

Lily Lyons

Lily Lyons is a singer songwriter from London. Lily searches for truth, with her lyrics exploring simple things that are easily forgotten – not revolutionary, but the everyday beauty and tragedy of relationships. Off the back of three successive sold-out shows at Servant Jazz Quarters, Lily has announced her biggest headline show to date at the Omeara in London, with her debut album (produced by Joel Pott) on the horizon. Lily spent most of 2024 on the road, including performing at Glastonbury, supporting Hailaker, Tiny Ruins, Dan Mangan, Blanco White and Dan Smith of Bastille on tour.

Angus Bayley

London based keyboardist Angus Bayley writes music that intelligently breaks musical rules all over, earning a place at the frontier of hard-hitting ultra-produced groove music in modern jazz. Originally from Yorkshire, Bayley moved to London to study engineering and developed his musical craft slipping out of lectures to have lessons with London Jazz pianists like Kit Downes and Richard Fairhurst.

Last year Angus released Everything’s Dangerous, his debut solo work – a foray into the open possibility space hinted at by the explorations of Wayne Krantz, Troyka and Strobes, and an area he could see for years that had untapped potential. Helping him explore it is producer Matt Calvert, also responsible for synths and electronics, bringing the high adrenaline saturated soundworld he’s become known for through Strobes and Three Trapped Tigers.
