About:
Fabienne Ambuehl is known for her vibrant contemporary jazz, weaving together elements of poetry and storytelling. Her latest album Thrive, released on Ubuntu Music, won ‘Jazz Recording of The Year’ at the 2025 Presto Music Awards. The music of the London-based, Swiss-born pianist, singer and composer receives widespread acclaim from the international jazz press.
Ambuehl’s sound is lyrical and rich in detail, with fluid, expressive piano playing and emotive vocals, drawing inspiration from both the natural world and urban life. Her debut album Glitterwoods (Traumton, Berlin), was named ‘Album of the Year’ by UK Vibe and she has since worked with various artists internationally. Thrive was selected as ‘Album of the Week’ by Germany’s Rondo Magazine, and had regular radio play on Jazz FM UK and BBC Radio 3.
Ambuehl was described as posing “somewhat of a triple threat as a fine pianist, wonderful singer and a composer of note” by Jazzviews UK. Together with acclaimed guitarist Ant Law, bassist Tom Farmer and drummer Jon Scott, the Fabienne Ambuehl Quartet creates a sound that is daring yet intimate, and truly its own.
With compelling rhythms and melodies loosely influenced by blues, Brahms and the Beatles, you will hear songs from the album Thrive as well as brand new material from their upcoming next album.
‘…Ambuehl crafts a mesmerising soundscape that seamlessly blends songs and instrumentals…the album sounds terrific and delivers an impressively immersive musical experience.’
