About

Bassist, band leader, and co-founder of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary Crosby OBE leads his quartet for this Jamaican Independence Day celebration.

This is a musical love letter to the legacy of Joe Harriott, Coleridge Goode and all the Jamaican musicians that ignited the jazz sound of the late Forties and Fifties, and who bought a mix of calypso, jazz, and Blue Beat inspiration to the heart of London.

Leader of the acclaimed Gary Crosby’s Nu Troop and founder of the might Jazz Jamaica, Gary’s impact and influence on the UK jazz scene spans four decades.

Through Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary has been at the heart of the recent British jazz explosion, nurturing young musical talent and increasing opportunity, diversity, and excellence in and through jazz. He is also the artistic director of the acclaimed Nu Civilisation Orchestra and, in 2018, became the 14th recipient of the prestigious Queen’s Medal for Music – the first person of colour and first non-classical musician ever to receive the award.

Gary is joined by Mark Kavuma (trumpet), Luke Bacchus (piano), and Eddie Hicks (drums).
