London Jazz Orchestra

The London Jazz Orchestra open their new season of monthly Second Sunday gigs by celebrating pianist John Taylor’s 80th birthday. Taylor, along with Kenny Wheeler a founder member of the LJO, was a fantastic writer, and the gig will include his Quatorze suite as well as ‘O’ from the ECM Azimuth recording with Kenny and Norma Winstone. Pete Saberton and Nikki Iles followed JT in the piano chair, current pianist Alcyona Mick, who carries on the tradition of great pianist-writers in the band, will also be featured.
The LJO at the Vortex is London’s longest jazz residency. Co-lead by director Scott Stroman and lead trumpet Noel Langley with a loyal crew of London’s top players, they enter their 4th decade stronger than ever. Check out these exciting up-close-and personal gigs!
