London Jazz Orchestra – Moanin’ and More

Moanin’, the classic album by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, gets rethought and expanded for jazz orchestra in a vibrant new suite by director Scott Stroman, incorporating inventive orchestrations of solos by Lee Morgan, Bobby Timmons and Benny Golson. Featured soloists include tenor sax Pete Hurt, trumpet Noel Langley, trombonist Martin Gladdish, pianist Alcyona Mick and expecially drummer Paul Clarvis, taking inspiration from Blakey while playing in his highly original style.
