Maria Chiara Argirò – Hidden Seas Replay

On the 12th May at 7PM BST, we will have a live-streaming a pre-recorded performance from Maria Chiara Argiro’s Album launch from the 8th December 2019 via Facebook and YouTube! Since closing our doors to the public on the 17th March, we have been getting together a programme of events to keep showcasing the best jazz and improvised music from across the UK and the world, and we are very excited to be kicking off this series of Replay gigs by making Maria’s album launch available to the public! So tune in, grab a drink and join the Vortex community for an amazing evening of music!

Hidden Seas is London-based Italian pianist and composer Maria Chiara Argirò’s second album, following on from her 2016 debut The Fall Dance. She is a well-known name on the London scene – her keyboard skills much in demand – currently involved with a variety of musical projects including Liran Donin’s 1000 Boats, Kinkajous, Teotima, Rosie Turton and Jamie Leeming.

Hidden Seas – composed entirely by Argirò – departs from the more traditional sound of her debut and sees her turning to synths and electronics and the introduction of vocals. Accompanying Argirò on piano and electronics is a brilliant line up including singer Leïla Martial, Sam Rapley (Tenor Sax/Clarinet), Tal Janes (Guitar/Effects), Andrea Di Biase (Double Bass) and Gaspar Sena (Drums).

To make sure we can keep broadcasting performances, we need your help. We realise that there is a lot of uncertainty about the coming months, but if you’re in a position to support us, then please consider making a donation of £3-5 – for the cost of a drink! https://bit.ly/2xLi7EX

Your donations will play a vital role in keeping music alive across the world. As venues shut globally and with your support, our club will be part of a new movement; bringing you inspiring live-streamed concerts, connecting you with the work of amazing musicians, and keeping The Vortex community going strong.

Together we can come together through music – helping reduce social isolation through these difficult times.

All funds raised will be split evenly between the club and the musicians involved. See you on the 7th!
