An electrifying quartet led by pianist/accordionist Maurizio Minardi with the stunning cello of Shirley Smart (from Vortex favourites Melange), Michele Montolli on double bass and Jason Reeve on drums. Weaving together jazz, folk and minimalist classical music – together with some breathtaking tangos – this will be an evening of sublime and interesting music – full of the unexpected as well as some well-loved musical gems. Not to be missed.
Maurizio’s style is reminiscent of Yann Tiersen, Esbjorn Svensson Trio, Nino Rota and Michael Nyman. He is a composer, pianist, accordionist based in London since 2008.
With his quartet, he will play music from his last accordion quartet album ‘The Cook, the Clown, the Monk and the Accordionist’ and from the new album ‘Piano Ambulance’ just recorded, to be released later in the year.
