About
OWL Quartet is a new double trumpet group co-led by London-based Charlotte Keeffe and Norwich-based Chris Dowding.
They both compose for group, which grew out of an ad-hoc meeting at the Plink Plonk improv night in Norwich. This gig at the Vortex Downstairs is the debut of OWL Quartet and will convene a wide range of improvising musicians, including cellist Shirley Smart and tap dancer Petra Haller, moving in and out of exploratory composed material.
Individually, Charlotte and Chris have worked with trombonist Annie Whitehead and guitarist/clarinettist Alex Ward, whilst playing together in the ‘improvising brass band’ The Brass Monkeys. They are both known as leaders in their own right, including Charlotte’s Right Here, Right Now quartet, and Chris’ Moonrise Trio.
