Rosie Frater-Taylor

Emerging songwriter, guitarist, ukuleleist, vocalist Rosie Frater-Taylor is credited as ‘One to Watch’ by Jazzwise Magazine. At 20 she is developing her own sweet and unique sound influenced by folk and singer-songwriter vibes but grounded in her virtuoso jazz roots.

Her self-produced debut album On My Mind has been described as “a delicious jazz and folk amalgam” (Jazzwise, Taking Off) and garnered much praise from, among others, Ian Shaw “superb, surprising & highly enjoyable”, Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) “genuinely exceptional” and US songstress Becca Stevens “so good”. BBC Radio 1’s Declan Mckenna describes Frater-Taylor’s sound as “complex, jazzy, delicate” and guitar icon Jimmy Page praises her connection with the guitar.

On My Mind expresses Rosie’s stylistically adventurous approach to pop songwriting. A mature collection of songs demonstrating her natural affinity with the guitar and love of multi-layered acoustic soundscapes. Close vocal harmonies amidst “strange, knowing changes & strong sure melodies” conjure up the sounds of Joni Mitchell, Gretchen Parlato, Becca Stevens, Emily King, Olivia Chaney, Lianne La Havas, Pat Metheny, Lionel Loueke & George Benson.

Combining her intimate voice with “hot Benson-esque guitar/ vocal scatting”, Rosie brings her distinctive blend of jazz & folk to life alongside her superb live band. Rosie will play songs from On My Mind as well as new music to be released in 2020.
