Simeon May Trio + The Naomi Gee Wright Band [double bill]

The group, three years young, was born out of a love for the great trio records of Rollins, Ornette, Paul Bley, Paul Motian, Joe Henderson and Joe Lovano. These sounds collide with traditions of European jazz, folk and improvised musics in the trio’s original compositions, making for a sound that feels both deeply rooted and distinct in character. With a strong sense of freedom and interplay, the group explore and abstract their song-like forms and celebrate the breadth and openness of the trio setting.
