About

Tereza Catarov is a musician born in Romania and based in London (UK), who is gifted with the talent of composition and the art of singing. She grew up in a multicultural environment, therefore she was exposed to different music genres from a very early age. She nurtured her imagination with Romanian and Bulgarian old songs and accomplished her techniques studying classical music and jazz. Now, her music and sound are influenced by contemporary jazz, traditional Eastern European music.

Currently, Tereza is in the process of recording and producing her debut album, “Koren”.

She has performed on famous jazz stages like: EFG London Jazz Festival, Swinging Groningen, JazzX and Jazz in the Park.
Her music has received good reviews such as the one in the renowned website London Jazz News, and her composition Infinity has been broadcasted on Jay Phelps ‘ show Somethin’ else, from the London radio JazzFM.

In Koren, Tereza Catarov’s debut album, she translates in music the life stories of the women from the community she grew-up in. The music reproduces the voices of the women from the past, whose experiences have passed to the women from the present through their life stories and through their thought patterns. Tereza Catarov overlays the voices of generations of daughters, and her compositions, inspired by the grandmothers’ songs, enrich the local cultural heritage and the transcultural heritage of the modern world.
