UK based Trumpeter Tom Syson and Switzerland based Alto Saxophonist Josh Schofield are set to join forces for a short series of gigs in the UK in the summer of 2022. Having first played together during their years at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, they are reuniting and forming a quintet of some of the most highly regarded UK based musicians to play a mixture of original compositions and arrangements.

Vincent Bach artist Tom Syson is a highly regarded trumpeter and composer based in the UK. He has released two albums under his own know at Peter Ga- briel’s Real World Studios, ‘Green’ (2017) and ‘Different Coloured Days’ (2019), both to critical acclaim and alongside UK tours.

Tom also has vast experience performing in larger ensembles, having held the lead trumpet chair in the European Radio Jazz Orchestra 2018, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, as well performing with the London Jazz Orchestra, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.

He has performed at venues/events such as the BBC Proms at The Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scotts, the Barbican and Gibraltar International Jazz Festival, as well as performing with musicians such as Lauren Kinsella, Jacqui Dankworth and Charlie Wood.

Josh Schofield is a British saxophonist currently residing in Basel, Switzerland. Named as ‘one to look out for’ in Jazzwise magazine he recently completed a year as a member of the prestigious Focusyear ensemble at Jazzcampus in Basel. Whilst there he received the opportunity to perform with musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lionel Loueke, Jeff Ballard, Jorge Rossy, Miguel Zenon, Ingrid Jensen, David Virelles and many more.

He has been performing with his own groups and as a sideman across Europe for a number of years in venues such as Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Kings Place (London), Porgy and Bess (Vienna), North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam), Nova Jazz Cava (Terrassa), Symphony Hall (Birmingham).
