Ubuntu Music Presents: HOWES3 (with support – Howl Quartet)

Oli Howe / piano & synthesisers
Marcus Porter / bass
Luke Campbell / drums

HOWES3 are an exciting new Brighton-based jazz funk/gospel fusion power trio. Brought together through a mutual love of 70’s jazz funk, 80’s fusion, 90’s R’n’B, gospel and hip-hop they cultivate a unique sound that has a foot in each genre. Blending smooth neo-soul progressions and utilising rich gospel harmony, sincere melodies and increasing levels of rhythmic freedom throughout, their music is a feel-good journey through their collective influences.

“Really loving this sound, quality next gen jazz for the now generation.”
– Tony Minvielle, JazzFM

“HOWES3 embody everything that’s so exiting about the UK jazz scene at the moment.”
– Somewhere Soul

Dan Smith / Alto Saxophone
Harry Brunt / Tenor Saxophone
Pete Komor / Double Bass
Matt Parkinson / Drums

Howl Quartet are a two-saxophone led jazz quartet. Originally taking inspiration from the contrafact writing of Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh, Howl Quartet create beautiful and surprising pathways through traditional (and occasionally not so traditional) harmony. Comprising of graduates of Royal Academy of Music and Royal Welsh College, Harry Brunt, Dan Smith, Pete Komor and Matt Parkinson have been performing regularly on the London scene for four years. They have been writing collectively for several years, with the shared ambition to dig deeper into the tradition of the music.
