Scottish jazz vocalist Louise Dodds will be making her debut at The Vortex tonight performing songs from her latest album ‘The Story Needs an Ending’ as part of her UK tour. Released in March 2022, the album is a deeply personal collection of songs written and arranged by Louise, which are both moving and uplifting.
Prior to hitting the studio, 2020 saw Louise opening for Norma Winstone MBE , as well as collaborating for the first time, one collaboration resulting in the single “Whispers” (Credits) being released with guitarist Ant Law.
2021 saw further collaborations, recording her original material with musicians from around the globe in a series entitled Songs From the Blue Room. Guests have included Elchin Shirnov (Avishai Cohen trio), Maurizio Congiu (Paris), Gro-Marthe Dickson in Norway(AMP Records), and fellow Scots Graeme Stephen and Alan Benzie.
Louise’s last album, ‘Fly’, featured UK jazz musicians John Pearce, Dave Green, Steve Brown and Martin Shaw and was launched at the London Jazz Festival.
