A celebration of the music written by one of the great Broadway composers.
Cole Porter penned some of the most iconic tunes in the ‘Great American Songbook’, many of which took on a second life as vehicles for jazz improvisation loved by greats like Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker and Oscar Peterson, all of whom recorded entire albums of his songs. Join us as we play a selection of his compositions and celebrate his accomplishments.
Following on from the band’s previous sell out shows at the Vortex featuring the music of Art Blakey, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk, they return to present a celebration of another of the all time jazz greats. Expect some well known favourites and a few less commonly played tunes as we spend an evening with one of the esteemed figures of 20th century music.
