Fabienne Ambuehl is a London-based Swiss pianist, singer and composer known for her contemporary jazz with a unique and vibrant blend of folk, poetry and storytelling. With supple piano playing and rich emotive vocals, she draws inspiration from the stillness of nature and the sounds of city life. Ambuehl first made her mark with Glitterwoods on Traumton, Berlin, which was listed as an ‘Album of the Year’ by UK Vibe. She has since played and recorded internationally as a pianist and singer with various artists. Thrive (Ubuntu Music), was released in 2025 to glowing acclaim from the international jazz press. ‘With Thrive, Ambuehl poses somewhat of a triple threat as a fine pianist, wonderful singer and a composer of note’ says Nick Lea from Jazz Views, while the album as a whole creates ‘an impressively immersive musical experience’ writes Peter Quinn, 4**** in Jazzwise Magazine. Thrive was selected ‘Album of the Week’ on both Presto Music and the German Rondo Magazine, had regular UK radio play on BBC Radio 3 and was on the JazzFM UK playlist for several weeks.
With compelling rhythms and influences drawn from blues, Brahms and the Beatles, the Fabienne Ambuehl Quartet creates a sound that is daring yet intimate, and truly its own.
‘Ambuehl’s vocals are crystal clear, distinct and refreshingly free of jazz clichés, making them equally suited to the classic or folk realm.’
Neil Duggan, All About Jazz UK
‘Quite simply fab’
Marlbank
‘Lyrical, intimate, and yet bursting with energy, Ambuehl has crafted a sublime second album’
Maddy Allison, Presto Music UK
