About
Hosted by the Vortex Jazz Club in collaboration with the Local & Live in Hackney project, proudly supported by Hackney Council.
Join us for an explosive evening of rhythm, soul, and cross-continental groove with Regen Sound, a dynamic collective whose music journeys across Sub-Saharan Africa through ancestral songs and infectious contemporary fusion.
With members hailing from Angola, Congo, Nigeria, Jamaica, South Korea, and Hackney, Regen Sound brings together a blazing Pan-African rhythm section that embodies the spirit of collaboration and cultural celebration. Emerging from the Grand Union Orchestra—the UK’s pioneering cross-cultural ensemble—these virtuoso musicians fuse tradition and innovation with exhilarating energy.
Hot off their residency of live and recorded performances, Regen Sound makes a one-off stop at Vortex in collaboration with Live & Local, featuring special guest Seayool on Korean flute. Expect an evening of Big Bad Blues and African Jazz, with intoxicating rhythms of Bolero, Highlife, and Afrobeat that will move both heart and body.
