INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY SPECIAL – KELLY | FREESTONE | MICK

Juliet Kelly – Vocals
Tori Freestone – Saxophone
Alcyona Mick – Piano

Celebrate International Women’s Day with a new group featuring the talents of three acclaimed female performers.  Impressive vocalist Juliet Kelly, inventive saxophonist Tori Freestone and dynamic pianist Alcyona Mick have selected a programme of charming and varied compositions.  Including songs about women, for women and by women the theme will be love in all its forms – first love, true love, forbidden love, heartbreak and enduring love.

A graduate of London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, jazz vocalist and composer, Juliet Kelly has worked with many outstanding musicians including Tony Kofi, Seb Rochford, John Etheridge, Kit Downes and Courtney Pine. She has performed throughout the UK and more recently in Europe with concerts in Italy, Germany, Greece and Russia and played support for Georgie Fame, Ron Carter and Take 6.

“One of those rare singers that tells a genuine story with her music, through her passionate performance and naturally warm voice, it’s a beguiling combination that’s hard to resist. One of the UK’s finest singers in any genre”
TIME OUT

Tori Freestone is a British saxophonist, flautist and violinist who performs at the forefront of the UK improvised music scene as both a sidewomen and highly regarded bandleader.  Freestone is known for her robust tenor sound, melodic invention as well as an ability to amalgamate into a variety of styles and musical contexts while maintaining her highly personal and distinct voice.

“Freestone has clearly listened widely, but her musicality and broad experiences have stirred all that input into an imposingly original sound”
THE GUARDIAN

After growing up training as a classical pianist, a love of composing, improvising and jazz developed, and Alcyona Mick went on to study jazz piano at the Royal Academy of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire. She is also a graduate of the prestigious National Film and Television school with a Master’s degree in composing music for film. Working regularly with artists such as world music star Natacha Atlas, Alcyona performs internationally as a pianist.
