Joe Hill’s North Ark

Joe Hill’s North Ark is a new jazz septet, started in 2017. They play original compositions and arrangements by Joe, which are influenced by a wide variety of artists, such as Phronesis, Marius Neset, The Impossible Gentlemen and Tim Garland. The wide variety of music written for the septet likes to engage not just the modern jazz lover, but fans of any music genre, and therefore contains a whole combination of grooves, improvisation, accessible harmonic sequences, melodic writing and odd time signatures. This band is made up of some of London’s top musicians. Between them they have played nationally and internationally with names such as Liane Carroll, James Maddren, Alan Barnes and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, as well as receiving numerous accolades such as British Rising Star (Rory Ingham) and BBC Young Jazz Musician Finalist (Tom Smith). The band come together in this project to play Joe’s exciting original compositions and arrangements. They have recently recorded their debut E.P., and are embarking on a U.K. tour in Winter 2018 / Spring 2019. This gig promises to be one not to be missed, as they play music from their new C.D., alongside some brand new compositions.
