Two fantastic duos, made up of future stars of the UK jazz scene, who use the freedom of the format as a launchpad for melodious exploration.
Pianist Will Barry and saxophonist Alex Hitchcock share a musical history that goes back over ten years, including as contemporaries at the Royal Academy of Music. Between them, they have played as sidemen with many legendary figures in Jazz including Jasper Hoiby, Laurence Cottle, Soweto Kinch, Perico Sambeat, and Clark Tracey. In their duo, they play original compositions as well as other repertoire ranging from Hermeto Pascoal to Lennie Tristano.
Trumpet and flugel star Miguel Gorodi and top drummer David Ingamells use their long standing duo to investigate the jazz tradition in all its breadth, delighting in the textures available in this pared-down format.
“sensitive and fluid – a beautiful sound” – Chucho Valdes on Will Barry
“..effectively mixed a traditional tenor-ballad warmth with a brisk contemporary attack”– John Fordham (The Guardian) on Alex Hitchcock
