The Vortex is delighted to host 5 nights of the 12th London African Music Festival
Nigerian pianist Niran Obasa established his name as one of the foremost session musicians and the gospel music in Lagos. He is the keyboardist with The Yoruba Women Choir and The Rhythms. Lately he focuses on his compositions that bring together his secular and non-secular to create improvisational music that is totally unique.
The first set of this concert he plays solo in a premier of his solo suite “CHILDREN OF CHIBOK – dedicated to the kidnapped children of Chibok, Nigeria.
The second set of this concert sees him leading his 7-piece band. Their combination of afrobeat, hi-life, urban grooves and jazz solos makes his band bring something new to contemporary African jazz music.
