Paul Dunmall is one of our great improvising saxophonists, balancing power and delicacy through his great imagination. Every time he plays the club, it is memorable. He has a knack also of bringing out the best in his collaborators.
It therefore is a special chance to hear him with one of the leading alto saxophonists of the NY Downtown scene. John O’Gallagher has shown the range of his own playing at the Vortex recently in gigs with Mike Gibbs and a very special meeting with trumpeter Peter Evans.
They are anchored by what is perhaps the greatest bass and drums combination around today.
