Fredrik Wallumrød (former Span, El Caco) on drums and vocals.
Susanna is the Norwegian singer and founder of the duo Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, founded in 2000 with keyboard player Morten Qvenild. Active for more than a decade, through nine albums so far as Susanna and the Magical Orchestra/Susanna/Susanna Wallumrød, the Oslo based artist has recently been taking great steps towards greater independence and autonomy, while increasing the range of her
considerable talents as a songwriter, vocal interpreter and producer.
Said about recent Rune Grammofon album ‘Wild Dog’:
“Her best album yet.” 4/5 stars Jazzwise
“Wild Dog’s autumnal mysteries are alluring indeed.” 4/5 stars Mojo Magazine
“Originals only on Norwegian songbird’s splendid latest” 8/10 Uncut Magazine
Susanna is known for both her own songwriting, with songs such as ‘Believer’ and her highly personal interpretations of other peoples’ songs. She is an intensely arresting performer; holding audiences captive with her hypnotising vocal timbre and the powerful, all
consuming sound of her band, her concerts are truly magical.
In 2011 Susanna started her own label, which has turned out to be an outlet for all her musical projects. SusannaSonata released her collaboration with contemporary music ensemble neoN ‘The Forester’, which comes highly recommended and won the Norwegian
Grammy Award in Open Category. A gorgeous short film was made to the title track by Claus A. Breda-Gulbrandsen.
