une, deux, trois is a new night at The Vortex, presented by the Norwich-based trumpet duo some things (Chris Dowding and Ben Higham) exploring solos, duos and trios.
The inaugural une, deux, trois presents the saxophone and electronics duo Deemer, and the duo collaboration of Sylvia Hallett and Chris Dowding, with Norwich-based vocalist Colleen O’ Brien as a guest, as Sylvia, Colleen & I. some things will open the night with a couple of idiosyncratic, focused and energetic pieces of their own…
Deemer is the duo of Dee Byrne and Merijn Royaards. It started life in 2006 as a weekly improvisation/electronics session in a warehouse in Hackney. They have since released two albums on the Luminous label, including a live cassette and download album recorded at The Vortex.

Sylvia & I is the duo collaboration of Chris Dowding and Sylvia Hallett. They have performed at Hundred Years Gallery, Flimflam and The Klinker, and released their debut album, ‘the holding breath’ (also cassette and download) this year. They are joined by Norwich-based vocalist Colleen O’ Brien for this performance.
