Filomena Campus Qt with Steve Lodder, Dudley Phillips and Rod Youngs

Internationally renowned jazz vocalist/lyricist, academic and theatre practitioner whose diverse influences range from modern literature, theatre and art to the culture of her native Sardinia. She has toured or collaborated with the UK’s top jazz artists, including Orphy Robinson,Cleveland Watkiss, Rowland Sutherland, Pat Thomas, Mark Mondesir, Huw Warren, Byron Wallen, Jean Toussaint, Kenny Wheeler and the London Improvisers Orchestra, as well as with fellow Sardinian musicians Paolo Fresu, Gavino Murgia and Antonello Salis.

The Filomena Campus Quartet was founded in 2010 and it has been touring internationally including festivals in UK, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Qatar, Morocco, Thailand. They recorded their acclaimed album ‘Jester of Jazz’ in 2011, with music by Lodder and Phillips and lyrics by Campus. The quartet has two more projects, a new album that will be recorded in 2020 and and ‘Italy VS England’ with renowned Italian writer and performer Stefano Benni. In 2013 Filomena launched her annual Theatralia Jazz Festival (www.theatraliajazzfestival.com) in which she seeks to unite Italian and UK jazz musicians. Her production of ‘Monk Misterioso’ (www.monkmisterioso.com) supported by the Arts Council England, toured UK and was sold out at the EFG London Jazz Festival in November 2017.
