British-Nigerian guitarist Toby Foyeh enjoys massive success in USA where he is now based. His music is a musical melting pot created out of a unique fusion of traditional Nigerian Yoruba music including Highlife, Afrobeat, folklore with Jazz, Rock, Pop, and Latin music, though absorbing various western elements, the music is fresh and original.
His band has performed in the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe entrancing audiences around the world and appearing at major festivals such as Fuji Rock Festival, Nigaata, Japan, 17 International Jazz Festivals including Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Detroit, Syracuse,
Washington DC, Jamaica, Grenada, Bahamas, Curacao and Malta etc Universities and Performing Arts Centers.
His live performances are exciting, portraying a new musical vision of Africa — songs in English and Yoruba, scintillating guitars, where West African Guitar music meets Jazz and Rock all on top of African rhythms. Be prepared for the mini acoustic break, where you may find him playing the flute, a second instrument he took up as a child. With the flute you’ll go on a mystical musical journey to traditional Yorubaland and back again. This may be the future of African music.
With his first London gig in years, Toby treats the audience to a smaller 5 piece group and a more intimate performance. This is a must see musical event
Tonight he plays from his various CDs including Jalolo, Lagos Ilu Eko, Here I Come
