About

The Billy Marrows Big Band features an eclectic mix of some of London’s most exciting improvisers, assembled to play Billy’s inventive and infectious compositions and arrangements. Their sets will feature a selection of favourites from Billy’s back catalogue, alongside some brand new music.

Billy Marrows is a jazz guitarist, bandleader and composer/arranger. He has been awarded both the large and small ensemble categories of the Dankwork Prize for Jazz Composition as well as the Eddie Harvey Arranger of the Year Award and has studied composition/arranging with Pete Churchill, Barak Schmool, Darcy James Argue and Vince Mendoza (on the 2018 Metropole Orkest Arrangers Workshop). Stan Sulzmann described his composition on Patchwork Jazz Orchestra’s lockdown EP as “such lovely fun and bright creative writing…I very much enjoyed this piece whilst locked away last year”.
